Your mind will tell you that you can’t be joyful or peaceful now. It will insist that you must wait until things change or circumstances improve or you finally get whatever you want.
It’s tempting to continually postpone joy and peace until sometime later, sometime in the future. Your mind will create a vision of an idealized future that is always just over the horizon, just out of reach. But that future is merely a figment of your imagination. Later never arrives. Tomorrow never comes.
When the future finally reveals itself, it reveals itself as the now. When tomorrow finally appears, it appears as today. Ultimately, the present moment is all there ever is. The past and the future exist as thoughts in your mind, but they don’t exist in reality. You are living in an eternal now.
When you let go of the assumption that peace and joy are only available in the future, you become aware of the peace and joy that are within you already. You begin to discover the deep joy and deep peace that emanate from your essential being.
Your mind will tell you that you can’t be joyful or peaceful now. But in reality, you can only be joyful and peaceful now. Peace and joy are integral aspects of who you are. You can’t achieve them in some imagined future. But you can awaken to them now.
